It appears in my quasi-retirement that I’ve turned into a “Kit Napper”. (I snagged the term from Cathy P, the ParTEA lady.) Kit Nappers are people who sign up/join an MLM to buy the kit, which normally includes a lot more in product than you pay for the kit. Then you either continue on and meet the consultant requirement as your own customer (because you use a lot of the product & enjoy the discounted prices) or you simply fail to meet the quota to remain a “consultant/stylist/whatever” & get “kicked out” (for lack of a better term).
I’ve always loved tea but have been drinking much more of it in the last ~8 years. I have been a regular (mostly mail order) customer of Teavana for a few years. I love their teas but they are pretty pricey, if you’re going through much tea. I try to buy them via Ebates and when they (Teavana) are having a sale. I got to the point where I rarely bought from my local B&M Teavana store because I’d make up a list of the teas I wanted, trek over there only to find out they only had (maybe) half of them in stock. Annoying as heck (that’s why I stopped shopping at K-Mart 20 years ago) and while it’s nice to sip the tea samples at the B&M stores, it’s not worth trekking over there (and it’s not that far from my house) only to come home with ~half of what I wanted.
On the other side of the coin, I drink a LOT of Celestial Seasonings teas. I’ve been drinking those for nearly 40 years. I live in the desert and can easily go through over 2 quarts of cold tea a day. Tazo Passion is another favorite. Or just plain hibiscus. I buy the dried hibiscus flowers (Frontier brand) from Amazon.
Anyway, a couple of months ago, I discovered Steeped Tea which is a tea MLM. WHO KNEW there was such a thing??? So I started looking into tea MLMs & (from what I can tell), there really aren’t very many of them. In fact, this is the only one I’ve found. Then, a couple of weeks ago, some friends & I attended a tea cupping class at Tea Time Scottsdale. We really enjoyed it and the gal who guided us was very knowledgeable. I’m pretty sure she got a bit annoyed with us as she was teaching us, since we occasionally veered off on other topics. But this fueled my interest in Steeped Tea. It’s a young Canadian company and they have expanded into the U.S. I finally signed up as a consultant…but at this time only plan on being my own customer.
When I signed up, they had a three day special where the kit was just under $50. Since I’d been thinking about doing this anyway, I signed up right away, when I saw the reduced price. What I didn’t realize at the time is that the $50 kit is not the same as the $100 kit. But no matter because I’m happy with what I got. But I want to make sure my audience understands the difference between the two kits. And (IMO), both kits are great. But to reiterate, the $50 kit was only a three day special last week & is no longer available. You would need to get the $100 kit which would include more product than is displayed in my video.
And here’s what I got…
