Never Too Old (To Learn Something New)

Mother’s birthday luncheon 2015

I’m only about seven months late in posting this, but I guess better late than never, eh?  As some of you may already know, my mother passed away two months shy of her 95th birthday in 2012.  In an effort to not focus on being sad that day, I decided to have a girls luncheon to celebrate the day and decided to make it an annual event.  I do it up all girly, send real live invitations, use my wedding china & good silver & crystal.  Previous years are here: 20132014)  Here’s the one from June 2015.

Invitations were made using my Cricut (Anna Griffin cartridge), Minc, Craft Artist 2 (card making software), CTMH cardstock and some digital paper, including a pattern that is very similar to Anna Griffin’s Olivia pattern, which I adore.

Here are this year’s favors.  I made the favor boxes & tags with my Cricut, using CTMH cardstock.  Included was one of my favorite bag tags from OXO.  I wasn’t sure if everyone would know what they were, so I sliced some plastic bags & clipped them into the clip, along with a tag, “I’m a bag clip!”

On the menu…

  • walnut cheese souffle
  • tossed green salad
  • broccoli cheese soup (This is a nod to my mother, since it was one of the few foods she enjoyed the last few years of her life.)
  • back by popular demand/request, Raves Reviews cupcakes
  • and…homemade macarons with a dragonfruit buttercream filling…

Miss Mia’s  debut.  She is a shihtzu mix we adopted a month before from Pee Wee’s Pals rescue, after the loss of Miss Roxie in December 2014.
