Never Too Old (To Learn Something New)

Is all the poli-talk getting you down? Need a laugh or five?

All this election turmoil reminds me so much of 2004. For a few years, I had been heavily involved in a coffee lovers forum.  I mean, I not only ground my own coffee beans, I bought green beans & roasted them myself. And yet many long time regulars of the forum (message board) were at each others’ throats over the candidates. Even those in different countries didn’t mind getting involved in the fracas. It was also the upcoming 2nd anniversary of my husband & I having to put Monty (our first furry kid) down. I decided I needed some serious laughter in my life.  So I retreated from the message board where I had been so prolific &  started looking online for info and especially video clips of Paul Lynde, who had been a source of laughter for me, when I was growing up. To my dismay, THERE WERE NONE!  It became my mission to make a website worthy of his blessing (had he still been alive) and thus, my Paul Lynde website was born.  I had to teach myself how to “rip” clips from VHS tapes or DVDs & edit them.  And since Paul had passed away 23 years earlier, I had to learn how to get my hands on tapes of vintage shows he appeared on.  I am fairly certain my website is still, all these years later, the largest repository of info on Paul as well as clips of his performances on the internet.  The bad news is that in the 12 years since this website was started, technology has moved away from mostly desktops/laptops to tablets/phones and my website is not tablet/phone friendly.  I have been promising for the past several years to update it so that it is…but I just haven’t done it.  (I’M SORRY!!!)   I probably need to pass the torch to someone younger & more capable.

However, that journey introduced me to several people.  Some I have since met in real life & some I am still in contact with.

Anyway, the main point of this post is…if you are like me…and you are so tired of the election crapola and feel the need for laughter, you just may find a chuckle or two from Paul on my website.  (If you have access to a desktop/laptop).

In closing, if you enjoy Paul’s humor, I think you will enjoy Michael Airington’s Las Vegas rendition of Paul (Michael owns the rights to Paul’s estate) and this book by my friend Cathy who wrote a book about her real life friendship with Paul.
